Question:

Am I going to miscarry?

My lmp was April 16th. I took my pregnancy test on May 15th and said it was positive. I went to the doctor June 16th, and he said I only looked 5 weeks, and I needed to come in 2 weeks later. I went yesterday and he said my gestational sac was abnormally shaped, and that he should have seen a heartbeat. He said he thought we were going to miscarry, and that we needed to prepare ourselves. I haven't started bleeding or cramping, and I go back to the doc Monday. He said we may have our dates off, and that the heartbeat could start next week. I'm scared, sad, and very anxious to figure out what in the world is going on. This is our 1st pregnancy, and not how I pictured it to go. Please let me know what you think!

  1. Well this may not be what you want to hear but i became preg. in Nov. had a sonogram in Jan and they told me the same thing..to prepare ourselves.. well i did not have any bleeding or cramping untill the begining of Feb. I starting bleeding real heavy and after about 5 days of the i stated have horrible pain... and then my baby finally passed thru me! It is a very painful experience phisicly and emotionally... just try not to stress to hard because there could be a chance.. but best of luck to you!!! Ill keep you in my prayers!

  2. it didn't work out for me, either - not in january and not last week.

    BUT

i do have three beautiful babies that were born strapping and healthy.

about 1 in 4 pregnancies naturally miscarries in the first trimester (usually a genetic problem or serious defect) - thank today's wonderful technology for making it possible for us to know.  normally, we wouldn't - we'd be nearly 3mo along before "doh!  THAT'S what's wrong with me!".  any early miscarriages were "hunh.... wierd period.  note to self:  less stress".

  3. An abnormal sac is not a good sign I'm afraid Hun the sac should not be abnormally shaped.

round about 5 to 7 weeks you should be seeing a heart beat and a fetal pole but be guided by your doc and good luck Hun
