I am 15 y.o. 5'5 and 114 pounds. I used to be overweight but lost quite a bit and I am becoming a vegetarian , only to save the animals. But my family seems concerned by how much weight I have lost. I do not think that I am nearly thin enough but you tell me. Is this too little for my body?

  1. You are plenty thin. Just make sure you are never dropping below 1200 calories a day. Even if you are a vegatarian you still need some fats and proteins. Eat some sunflower seeds, peanuts, cashews, or something that can help you out with that.

  2. that weight is healthy, maybe they are concerned by the rate that you lost it at, but that is a healthy weight

  3. Thin enough for what? Since when is 114 pounds not thin???

A five foot tall woman should weigh on average, 100 pounds. For every inch, add 5 pounds. If you are 5' 5, then ideally you should weigh 125 pounds. It depends partly on your build, so if you are very petite, 115 might be fine. If you have a bigger build, 115 would look gaunt.

At 114, you are slightly underweight. That is probably why your family is concerned. You might have a problem if you think your present weight isn't thin enough...

You should not lose any more weight. If you lose too much, your periods will stop, your hair falls out, your skin looks bad, you become constipated, get heart palpitations, fainting spells, and lots of other nasty complications.

    Listen to your family.
