Question:

Am I overweight? :(?

I'm 12 and 127 pounds. I'm not sure if that's a healthy weight. If not, how could I loose a lot. Like go down to 90 pounds??

  1. Well, depending on your height, you may OR MAY NOT be carrying a little extra weight.  And, if so, it shouldn't be too tough for a kid your age to take extra weight off - if you even need to lose any.  I agree, your height does matter here.

    Today foods are full of that nasty hateful oingredient called High Fructose Corn Syrup.  Anytime you see that as an ingredient, steer clear.  It adds extra weight and it's tough to get off.  Just get outside more, watch what you eat, and only eat when you're hungry.  That's where most people get into trouble.  If it's there, we eat it.  A little willpower is all.  One thing to do that's very good all-over exercise is walking.  Go for a walk in the early evening (if it'safe, of course.  Take a dog with you :D)  Walking uses all muscles and it'll help you sleep better which is also very important for a healthy weight.  Get plenty of rest.  For your age, get at least 7-8 hrs - no less than that.  Take some notes of some suggestions from folks here.  Having your BMI (body mass index) checked is a super idea - it'll tell you exactly where you are or where you should be.


  2. It has nothing to do with your age, it has to do with your height so i'm not really sure.  You can check out this site, it calculates your BMI.  It's not completely accurate of course, but it gives you a fairly good indication of where you should be.  http://www.nhlbisupport.com/bmi/

  4. Sweety, you need to tell the world your height. You could be 4 foot 3 and super obese or you could be 6 foot 7 and thin like a stick. Add it under additional details. GO CUBS!!!

  5. It depends on how tall you are. Ask your doctor or school nurse to calculate you BMI. This will help you decide whether or not you are underweight, overweight, or just right. I'm almost 15, 120 lbs, and 5 foot 3. If you are around 5 foot three or four, then your fine. Don't go overboard and loose thrity pounds. And btw, I hate my legs too, but when you get older, you'll look fine.

    Your age and weight have not a damned thing to do with each other.

    Well, they do, but your HEIGHT and weight have a lot more to do with each other.

    Provided you are at least 5 feet, you're not overweight.

    90 lbs is too small, especially if your natural weight is 127 lbs.

    Don't compare yourself to other girls, or even your friends. You are you. No one else.
