  1. 1. common sense, Some writers have so confounded society with government

    2.  Alien and Sedition Acts. The Alien Act was designed to prevent immigrants, who supported Jefferson, from gaining citizenship, and the right to vote. While the Sedition Act was designed to stifle critics of Adams

    3. Corps of Discovery

    4.  Shaysites (Regulators)

  2. Do your own homework.

  3. Steve-A is right except

    4. Sons of Liberty (i think)

Bookish- Those are the first 8 to The Crisis

  4. LOL I'm not answering your homework for you, but whoever your teacher is pretty stupid.

Adams didn't squash his Re-election hopes by passing two laws. Alexander Hamilton squashed Adams hopes when he wrote a scathing essay on Adams, this SERIOUSLY undermined him in the election, and is a far bigger contributor to his losing to Jefferson, and Burr, then the Alien and Sedition Act.

  5. You need to do your own homework at look these up. To tell you the truth these questions are way to easy. They require no real thought. Any one in a history class should all ready know these facts. I wonder if you just have a teacher who doesn't bother teaching, seeing as they gave you a fill in the blank packet.

  6. The more I see of these history assignments, the more I understand why students hate history.  These fill-in-the-blank and multiple choice answers suck all the life and passion out of what were exciting, important events.

Seriously, google Thomas Paine.  You're going to get "Common Sense."  I'll leave you to find the famous quote, which will be easy.

Try wikipedia for the John Adams stuff.  One is most likely the Alien and Sedition Acts.  The other is going to have something to do with France, I think.

Wikipedia has the answer to the Lewis and Clark question.  How hard did you look?

There's something wrong with the last question.  I'm sure you want The Sons of Liberty, but Shays' Rebellion occurred after the American Revolution was over, and I doubt very much that Adams and Revere were involved.

Steve--I think the first words of Common Sense are "These are the times that try men's souls."

  7. I must also say: 'Do your own homework.' These things aren't difficult to look-up and being able to do so will definately help you in later life.

Why not google the key words of each question?

To Bookish: I have a BA in History and have never been required or indeed inspired to read Paine's 'Common Sense' in my life. I prefer 'Rights of Man,' he gets a bit racist but that's the horrible tapestry!

OK, since you seem to really be having trouble. Using google the answers are:

    1. The Crisis: 'These are the times that try men's souls.' (Wikipedia)

    2. Probably the Alien and Sedition Acts (I think the question may be misleading, as other posters have noted they were 4 laws)

    3. The Corps of Discovery (Wikipedia)

    4. Federalists (Although the question is poorly expressed so you would probably have difficulty getting a firm answer for it)
