How could a defensive missile bring about the end of the world? That is just silly. I suppose you would subscribe to the Russian line of thought, that you should leave yourself open to nuclear attack and promise not to shoot it down if they decide to nuke you?

With the current leadership in Russia the quickest way to bring out the end of the world is to back down and not do it.  The defensive system in Poland is basically worthless against multiple missiles; it will get one if launched but cannot cope with ten or twenty launches so it is no threat to Russia's power and they know that.  It would work against an accidental launch or, as it is being put in place for a strike by a nation having very few missiles (Iran) but against the Russians no.  It is the principle with the Russians-they hate that so many of the former Iron Curtain countries do not want to e part of the new Russian Empire they are wanting; threaten and try to coerce to see if people back down, if they do ask for more then threaten and coerce until you get it then start again.  It did not appease Hitler when Chamberlain kept giving in to his demands and will not work know, it must be done now because they said not too or Europe and the US have not learned from history and sooner or later Russia will demand too much and use force then we have a very very big and bad war.

I think its the Europeans that are afraid especially the Brits, they don't get on well with the Russians especially after that poisoned spy scandal.

I can't see why the USA would need interceptor missile that side of the world.

That's the only explanation I can think of.

All this does is prove Russia right that the USA was lying to begin with because the first reason that was given for having the interceptors is that they were to protect Europe from Iran and North Korea.

The US tried to include Russia in this project over a year ago and Russia declined the project was not intended as a defense against Russia mostly against allies of thiers that the US and allies in that region and beyond are worried about but its starting to look like the Russians may be the ones staring down the barrell of the gun after all.
