American Teacher in BRazil?

Question

Do you think this is possible? I want to teach English in Brazil, preferably an American school. Is this a decent living in Brazil? I mean, will I live comfortably being a teacher in Brazil? And also, do you think if I have my Master's Degree I can teach English in a Brazilian university? I need some info and tips of trades regarding the issue.

Also, do you think it is also possible to learn how to speak Portuguese for an American guy like I am?

Additionally, what else can I do to meet this goal?

Other information about myself that may be helpful for you to answer my question:

I'm have an Associates Degree in English and currently going on for my Bachelor's. Also possibly minoring in Latin/International Studies and Spanish.

18 years old.

Certified English as a Second Language and Adult Basic Literacy Tutor.

In an internship program with a famous radio station in my state.

Oi! You would probably start out as an assistant. I did that in Thailand but what an assistant to begin with. Didnt intrest me enough however.

Oh and best place to look would be in Sao Paulo since it's so large. Rio is dangerous.

Ola! I fell very flattered that an American would like to come and live in Brazil. The number of English schools here is growing exponentially, and although there are many people who speak English around here, there aren't many good ones, so a native speaker is always welcome. But for the standard of living, unfortunately this kind of profession (my profession by the way) is not very well paid here in Brazil, so you probably wouldn't have the standard of living that you have in the USA, materialistic speaking. But the quality of living is outstanding, specially in the minor capitals like Belo Horizonte and Curitiba, which are not as dangerous as Rio De Janeiro and Sao Paulo. As for teaching in a university it can be difficult as there is a set of tests that you got to do and you also need to have a good level of Portuguese.

Learning Portuguese would be easy, as we Brazilians are very friendly and eager to help anyone who wants to learn our language. And as the Brazilian community in the US is enormous, you can get a private tutor to help you prior to your coming here.
