American vs. Englsih actresses?

how come it seems that in movies all the young actresses are British? like even in American produced films it seems like they'd rather have a British girl who can fake an American accent than an actual American girl the same age and skill level, but then i dont think the opposite thing is happening over in Britain...?

The british actresses are probably just better. plus depending on the time period and location that the movie takes place in, sometime's it's more authentic to have someone with a brittish accent playing the role.  and do you know how hard it is to do an american accent?
