Amish and the internet?

since the amish abhor the use of technolagy and therefore would not have an internet connection i was perplexed as to what visual medium there youths would use to pleasure themselves, do they just spend all there time peering into each others windows?

The Amish don't abhor technology, they abhor the way people are so focused on themselves and technology just adds to that.  They do things for the good of the community and family.  

As for visual mediums, they see have this amazing thing called "In real life" by which they actually go to peoples' houses and talk, or get together, or work with each other.  They see people for real, but I have seen the young men peeking at the young women through the window or flirting as they drive by each other on buggies.

your parents did not have the internet either, what did they do to pleasure themselves?   what do you have against the amish anyways, it's not their kids we are reading about every night in our local newspapers being arrested for this and that are we?

they have there own etertainment, they are just simpler than us, maybe the play cards or paint or something

I'm afraid I find it quite depressing to think that someone truly can't imagine someone not finding entertainment without the internet.  I'm glad the question was asked, but I'd encourage the asker to spend a little time thinking about potential answers themselves, possibly even going outside of the internet to find answers.

First thing first.

Melissa. Racist refers to race. Amish is not a race. Second Anyone has the right to state an opinion on a life choice. Religion is no exception. I for one disagree with how the Amish raise their kids. Indoctrination of children is tantamount to child abuse. If the parents are Amish that is fine. Let the children think for themselves and when they are older they can choose an Amish way of life.

To answer your question......... Poor bloody Amish youth. I dare say the closest thing they have by way of a visual aid would be a biology text book from 1876. This book has probably been handed down for generations........So I guess all the good pages will have been stuck together well before they get their hands on it.
