hi, may i know what is the exact function of an amp?

how do i connect it ?

does it make the sound louder?

as in, i get volume of level 10 originally, after fixing an amp, i just need a volume of maybe 7 ? or 8 / 9? to get the same loudness or volume?

i have a few speakers and woofers with me, if i connect them directly to my current speakers' wirings, they sound the same. is there anyway to make them louder? or better?

  1. You wired woofers into stock speaker wiring? I've never known anyone to do that, ever.

Regular car audio speakers (4x6", 5.25", 6.5", 6x9") don't need to be amped to sound decent.

Subwoofers (8" +) do. Having a sub without an amp is like having a TV with no electricity.

Ok, if your head unit (cd player) gives you 50x4 watts and you have a 300 watt sub wired into one of your 4 stock wires that means its getting 50 watts peak, probably 17 rms. Thats going to sound horrible, if it makes any sound at all.

You need an amp. Subs dont work without an amp, its physically impossible.

  2. Hello... an amplifier does exactly that it "amplifies" the signal coming from your head unit and makes the sound louder and clearer.

To connect an amp: a 12v lead wire must be run from the cars' battery to the 12v terminal on the amp. (Wire size is determined by wattage of amp). The amp must be grounded, connect a wire running from your amps 12v ground terminal to a good source for a ground(example car seat bolt).Try not to exceed a 3ft ground! There is a remote terminal on your amp also. Run a wire from the remote wire (usually light blue) at the back of your cars cd player to the amp. Connect the remote wire to the remote terminal on the amp. You now have power! Now to get sound you need to run a set of RCA's from the output on your aftermarket head unit to the input side of your amp (red to red white to white). If your amp does not have RCA inputs it requires the use of a speaker input. Run speaker wires from head units speaker output wires (usually solid color and solid color with black stripe black stripe being negative side)to amp input. Now to get power to the speakers. The amp will have output terminals on it.These are also referred to as "channels". Run positive and negative wires from the positive and negative sides of these channels to the positive and negative sides on the speaker"s". To run a subwoofer make sure the amps frequency is set to low pass freq. or lpf. If not damage will occour to the voice coils.

And to answer your question yes the sound will be much louder. Expect half (depends on amp wattage) of original volume to be needed.

To make your speakers louder and better use an amp to amplify the sound going to the speaker. The reason they sound the same is because they are sharing the same wattage, filters as the other speakers.

Good Luck! I gave you very vague installation instructions..If you need more help just ask.

  3. amplifier is a curcuit of transister which increase sound volume and quality.don,t connect more speakers to a audio system because its damage the sound section of your car audio.amps are very cheap in present time so use the amp to increase volume.
