It is an amusing conicidence, but there is no conspiracy - people are not out to get Fallon for the sake of it.

Read all of the articles about this positive test and you will see that no one on Fallon's team has denied it.

I don't know why the test has taken so long to come to light, but his positive test from last year took a few months to come through the system too.

I'd just like to add: read Alistair Down's comments on page 4 of Sunday's Racing Post.  I think this sums up everyone's feelings on the matter.

Honestly, I wouldn't have noticed anything at all.  I don't know enough about cocaine to know that Charlie is slang for it.  And Charlie is just a boy's name, short for Charles.  And then there's the pun with Charlie-horse.  And horses always have long wierd names... Myboycharlie just sounds like a horse to me.  I wouldn't have seen any ironic coincidence at all... maybe I'm just missing it.

I wouldn't have noticed the coincidence either.  However, I do feel bad for him and wonder if it is that unusual for jockeys in the UK to use drugs (especially, cocaine) to keep their weight down and to deal with the stresses of riding (everytime you race you risk your life).  In the U.S., there's been a lot of attention paid to the fact that many jockeys have substance abuse problems.  And, many of our current great jockeys are recovered drug addicts and alcoholics (including, Garrett Gomez, Patrick Valenzuela, the late Chris Antley, Pat Day,Jerry Bailey, Jose Santos and Stewart Elliott).  I think instead of blaming the jockeys and penalizing them (obviously, riding under the influence is not a good idea), we should focus on the factors that lead jockeys to use drugs in the first place and rehabilitation services that could be provided to the jockeys, such as Belmont Racetrack's BEST Backstretch (Backstretch Employee Service Team).  If we want to enjoy the sport of horse racing, it seems to me that we need to take care of everyone that makes it possible (including, the jockeys, grooms, hotwalkers, horses etc.)
