  1. Virtual Homeschool Group is an online course co-op for homeschoolers. It works a lot like a local homeschool co-op except that with it being online the families are from all over the US and Canada.

The co-op uses Moodle for its course management system and it has a fantastic online classroom, Elluminate, for live classes. These tools are free to homeschool parents that want to volunteer to teach a class. That means the classes are offered free to students. To give a perk to the teaching parents that are giving of their time, their own children get first seats in courses, but there are usually plenty of openings even for students with non-teaching parents.

    The co-op is located at:

Most of the classes are already filled up and several weeks in at this point in the semester. Take a look at what ones are there and what ones are in development that are likely to have openings or be taking new students begining in the second semester session.

To learn more about the online classroom where students meet for classes, you can drop in for free participant training at 3:30pm central most weekdays. You can get the link to the online classroom for the training at the website in the course titled "The Live, Virtual Classroom - Let's Get Together".

If you think you would like to teach a class, I can tell you it is a blast to teach in the online classroom! I love it! I volunteer teach several of the VHSG courses.

  4. Well, I am in 8th grade, and I "go" to the laurel springs school, online. But u can do online or text based. I like online better. It is a really good program and it is acreditied and everything. And you actually have teachers who grade your work, it is very nice, conveinient, and I only have to work for an hour a day. If you want more info, email me at rydrew1@yahoo.com

  5. I think that Primavera Online is now nation-wide.

  6. If you don't like k12 then you need to find out if there are other online charter schools where you live. I live in Ohio and there are many online charter schools other than k12 OHVA.

See if any of these may help you

  8. When I home Schooled my 8th grade son last year, I used time 4 learning.  It cost about 14.00 a month.  I really liked it because it had a pro folio that I could print out.  I got him into High School with it.  I also think Cosmeo.com is excellent!  That is 10.00 a month.  But worth it.  Just log on and check it out for yourself.  You can try it for two weeks for free.  Good Luck!  Veronica
