Ancelotti shrugs off a tiny protest
Chelsea fans have started to vent their anger at Carlo Ancelotti, though admittedly, on a much smaller scale than usual.
Draped outside Chelsea’s Cobham ground were two banners, calling for an end to Ancelotti’s reign at Stamford Bridge. However, the manager has laughed off the tiny protest, saying that he’s seen much worse during his time in Italy.
Arriving at the Cobham training base on Friday, the Chelsea squad was greeted by two banners which read: “Ancelotti + Abramovich out!!!” and “None of you are fit to wear the shirt.” Both signs have since been removed.
When asked to comment on the incident, Ancelotti joked, “There was only one? If it's only one, there's no problem! Here, you saw outside just one person who is not happy. In Italy, it's different. You can find outside the training ground 1,000 people not
happy. It's difficult to fight with 1,000. With one, you can manage.”
Carlo Ancelotti has seen http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 slump to their worst form in the Premier League for more than fifteen years. They are nine points behind leaders Manchester United, meaning that their title bid this season is all but over.
What’s worse, the Blues are currently in fifth place in the league. Ancelotti has an uphill battle ahead of him if he wants to bring the side back into the Champions League spots.
However, the Italian still enjoys the support of the majority of Chelsea fans, except of course, for the disgruntled supporter who left the banners outside their training ground.
More importantly, Ancelotti has the full backing of owner Roman Abramovich. However, if the Blues continue their dismal form though, the Chelsea owner might just be forced to reconsider his stance.
Ancelotti said, “For a manager, it is important at this moment to have the support of the club, of the players, and obviously of the fans - minus one (referring to the banners outside the ground). The problem now here is not the relationship with the club,
or with the owner, or with the players. The problem is the team is not doing well. We've stayed a long time in a difficult moment, we've lost confidence. The solution is on the pitch - it is not outside the pitch. We obviously have to do quickly this change.”
