The tale of the founding of Rome by Romulus & Remus,as well as stories of heroism and duty to the city (such as that of the Horatii, or of the brave Cloelia, and Camilla), are all part of Roman legend.

Aeneas - the hero of Virgil's eponymous Aeneid (Julius Ceasar claimed kinship to him) he was a Trojan prince who escaped the sack of Troy and settled in Italy.  He was supposedly the son of Goddess Venus and a mortal, Anchises.

Try the origins of Rome. The ancient Romans believed that Rome was founded by Romulus and his brother who were raised by wolves.
