Animal places?

What type of place could I go to locally to take photos of animal life or shelter animals? Would the people there probably let me take photos? I am doing this for the American Humane’s 2008 Pets & Pals Photo Contest™.

u should sign up to volunteer and while walking them take pics. Doing two good thinks in one.

Try your local animal shelter. If you tell them what you are doing, they will probably let you take pictures of their animals. (They may ask to be able to use the photos you take for their publications, though.) Also, see if you have a dog park or something similar in your area. If you are looking for wildlife, you could take a nature hike through woods or near a creek in your area.
