Another car question?

Last night I was driving to Walmart with my friend. She was looking through my glove compartment and noticed all I car in my car is liscense, registration, insurance stuff, and a car manual. Then we were putting our bags in the trunk and I have nothing in my trunk. This was a shock to her. She said that I have none of the essentials in my car.

What should I be keeping in my car at all times and in case of emergency?

Well you have the important things, like legally you need your license and registration and proof of insurance.

On top of that a spare tire, tire wrench and jack are important.  They are usually found in your trunk.  I would also recommend and air pump.  They area about  $25 for a basic one and this will inflate your tires, most comes equipped with a flashlight as well.  That comes in handy if you have to park your car on the highway in an emergency you can put an extra light on in addition to your 4 ways.

I don't know where you live, but if it a a place that experiences snow in winter I would also recommend a blanket/extra jacket hat and gloves.

All this being said, if you have a cell phone, you can pretty much call from anywhere for help.  But why not have a few things in your trunk, they are light and if you ever need them it will have been totally worth it.

You never know what you might need in case of an emergency. Make sure you keep the following items in your vehicle.

Pen or pencil and a pad of paper

Vehicle operating manual

Emergency service information

Signal flares

Instant plug for flat tires

Flashlight with extra batteries

Preserved snacks

Blanket

Paper towels

Jumper cables

Warning triangles or reflectors

Engine coolant or Water

Tire pressure gauge

Ice scraper if needed for your area

Vehicle jack with flat board for soft surfaces

Tool kit including duct tape and heavy gloves

Umbrella
