Another class rank question?

I am in process of filling the form out for the SAT test and I am lost as where my daughter would fall she is 59 out of 255 in her school rank

I think it would be second fifth is where she would fall but math is not my strong hold so I wanted to ask for a second opinion.

Here is how they have it listed;

CLASS RANK-

Highest tenth

Second tenth

Second fifth

Middle fifth

Fourth fifth

Lowest fifth

Also what percentage would this be too. Top ? of her class

Thanks

  1. Your daughter is in the top 25 percent of her class.

    Her percentage is 23.1372549%

As for her class rank, she is in the second fifth.

How I found this all out:

    59/255 = 0.231372549

    0.231372549 x 100 = 23.1372549

So, technically, you could say that she is in the top 23.14%- but it makes more sense to just round it up to 25%.

    --------------------------------------...

    255 x 0.2 (one fifth) = 51

    51 x 2 = 102

As you can see, your daughter just missed the cut off for second tenth. Therefore, she is in the second fifth.
