Is it just me or is playoff hockey better because there is no fighting or because the teams with goons as stars are all knocked out?

I love fighting in the game, but I like it better when the real mplayers take and give hits and then let it be at that. Yeah, hockey without fighting sure seems like the real thing.

it takes two to fight.

Babcock is saying that the wings are making a conscious effort to make their actions count "between the whistles", not after them.

even Don Cherry pointed this out. After Roberts' how-ya-do to Franzen, Cherry gave the wings a double - edged compliment saying he couldn't believe their discipline to not retaliate, yet wondered about not getting in Roberts' grill. but it's a matter of taking stupid unnecessary penalties and giving the other team a free advantage in score and momentum.

i'm gonna have to agree w/ the majority, that i love good fights. btw, i think Laraque qualifies as a force to be taken seriously. i don't like the title of "goon".

Playoff hockey is great because of a few reasons.

1) Every game matters. Contrary to the Penguins' performance in games one and two most teams show up every night and give it their all. There aren't home and homes against Columbus where they can play at half speed.

2) Refs control the games less. Trying to keep it clean they'll still call penalties, but with more scrutiny on every play they get a higher percentage of calls right (sorry Buffalo).

3) Games are the right kind of physical. Especially early in the series when a team is trying to set the tone there are good physical hits with the goon aspect. Hitting and fighting are good parts of the game, but when penalties or suspensions are likely you only see the strategically important aspect of it. The contrived fights from 4th line goons with little skill are removed.

4) Every 12 seconds the TV shows us shots of the most cherished trophy in all of sports, Lord Stanley's Cup.

lol. hahaha. post lockout bettman it's all skill, more rushes, more goals, long pass game. meh.

i think goon hockey is still going to have it's time to shine, i mean look at orps & geno slewing it up on the ice and then gary and talbot cheap shotting franzen...i can't believe his 13th goal. i think it has to be goal of the year. those penguin idiots. why didn't they hit him. they were all over him late in game 2. ugh.

i think that these two teams should be allowed to fight (like at the end of game 2. lol. and that the goalies should get involved), because then the penguins would lose the hero worship attitude they've been playing with and come with the same emotions like they had playing the flyers.

i hope ruutu and georges (who's a big bear) get some **** started (but don't take bad penalties. gilly needs to lay off the stupid *** crosschecks, and if he's gonna do something about tomas he should atleast make it count...i don't advocate violence by the way).

I'd rather see a good fight in the playoffs. This face washing..spearing etc etc is just c**p...settle it like it should be...2 guys go at it and they get 5 each.

The fights are still there, the players just choose their battles. like loving life said, nobody wants to take a fighting major or risk ejection in the finals.
