Antivirus 2009 - Reliable or Scam?

Question

My mom's computer is having trouble with viruses and spyware and other issues of that type so she has been working with Norton to clean it up. Then Antivirus 2009 popped up saying that it would offer a 100% free scan. My mom clicked the X to exit out but it loaded the website anyways and performed a system scan. Now it wants my mom to download something. Everything seems a little suspicious and I don't want her to download something that will set her computer back even more. The main URL for this program is http://windowsscanner-freever.com. Is this actually reliable or is it a scam?

anti virus 2009 is a very BAD virus you need to download AVG free make sure you turn off system restore to get there right click my computer properties click the tab that says system restore then turn it off if you dont the virus will just keep coming back hope the helps

also try this go into my computer click on Local Disk C: go into program files find antivirus 2009 and delete the folder make sure you turn off system resote you wont be able to remove it if you dont

sometimes viruses hide in your registry so download a program called ccleaner and run that too

also download and these and run scans with them

Spybot - Search & Destroy

Windows Defender comes with vista so if you have vista dont download

Antivirus 2009 is not an antivirus.  It is a trojan.  Please use a real antivirus to perform a full scan of your system, cleaning out anything that it detects along the way.

If you've got Norton, you are on the right track.  AVG and Avast are two other effective antivirus programs that are completely free.

It a big scam........If Antivirus 2009 has been installed on your system without your permission or you are seeing popup advertising or recommending that you use Antivirus 2009 your system is infected with the zlob trojan.
