Any black people been to Spain?

I have to do a 6-week English teaching internship overseas for my major this summer, and an opportunity in Malaga, Spain has come up. However, I've heard blacks have encountered racism in Spain - and yes, I know racism is everywhere, but I heard it's more overt there. I'll probably go anyway - gotta deal with jerks all your life, you know? And a summer in Southern Spain sounds lovely - but I would like to know what to expect in case I go.

The racism in Spain is related to illegal inmigrants, not to black people working legally. Malaga is a great city and people there are quite friendly, and I'm sure you will enjoy your trip to Spain.

I have black friends who visit me in Málaga and they are treated no different to anyone else. Spanish people are very friendly. There are a lot of immigrants here from places like Senegal.

I´m sure that you had not any problem in Spain.

In fact the problem is with the ilegals inmigrants, but if you come from Europe don´t worry.

I'm not sure about Spain, Honey there is Racism everywhere I have had people to call me a redneck and act like I'm stupid because I'm from WV.

Go anyway.  It´ll be great.  Southern Spain is one of the most beautiful places in the world.  Be sure to get to Sevilla, no matter what, and try to get to Barcelona and Madrid.  Six months isn´t really a long time, but you should have a blast!  (and ignore any idiots, but as one other poster said, Spaniards are largely super warm and friendly, so ignore any idiots you come across).

I'm from Spain, and I've never heard anyone complain or say anything about black people.

People from Spain are mostly racist towards southamericans and arabs, and that being said, not everyone there is racist either, like every country.

But really you have nothing to worry about.
