Question:

Any group activities for mentally retarded?

I'm looking for somewhere to take my uncle (but not leave him there) who is mentally retarded (idk the exact name of his problem) so he can have fun and interact with others. He is 40 and Muslim. I'm looking for one in the Dallas Metroplex (preferably in either Garland or Plano areas). Also it would be better (but not necessary) if the group is restricted to Muslims (idk how he'd react to others).

Thanks

  1. I would try your county social services they may be able to suggest a day activity center or sheltered workshop that might be useful.

I also found this interested resource list - it is daunting but if you look under either adult day care or ARC (Association for Retarded Citizens you will be able to find some resources maybe not exactly what you are looking for but ask what else they know about.

    Good luck.

they are a place in dallas that helps.  Maybe call there and ask if they know of any activities you could join in on.

I was also thinking if he likes old people you could go to an old folks home and play bingo with them.  Old people love company.
