Any ideas for fund raising?

I'm trying to make up a plan to fundraise to buy lacrosse equips ( I'm on the jv lacrosse team in High School). I want to donate them to a Boys and Girls' club and teach them how to play lacrosse with a couple of my teammates. Do you have any ideas to earn enough money for the equips? Should I ask companies for donations?

Also, do you think this is a good idea to fundraise for? Later, I want to organize a tournament for these kids and make the community invovled in it. Do you think that's possible?

I'm doing this because I want to share my experience with other underpriveleged kids and also to stand out for college.

Gift cards sell good for my church such as a 50 walmart card for 10.00 OR 100  for gas for 10.00, we had a slave auction but to stay pc we changed the name and  people bid jobs like raking, cleaning windows, washing cars, cleaning yards whatever then the kids go and do the job for the bidded amount.  Good Luck.. Always ask companies for donations! The worst they can say is no. If you have a tournament, that could be your fundraiser. Charge teams a fee to play and ask every player to bring in some piece of equipment (new or used). You will raise funds to purchase new things and get a variety of used equipment also. I only know a bit about lacrosse, do players outgrow their "sticks" like baseball bats? Do they come in different weights and lenghts?

Having the tournament and getting the community involved should be your first step not your second. Let the kids that your tournament will benefit, come and watch or work the snack bar (big money maker), or at the gate helping with registration. Aren't there alot of lacrosse clubs in the Bay Area? Get them involved also.

also look into Foundations in your area.  Writing a grant looks intimidating, but it really isn't and the foundation committee will take into account your age and scope of your project.  Do your research and set up a good plan... perhaps a letter from the B&G club director will help with grant process or even asking businesses.  

Having written a successful grant looks great on college apps, too!
