  1. Right now, driving 1000 miles on a hydrogen fueled car emits about 2100 lbs of CO2. Driving on a normal engine does less than 500 lbs of CO2 for 1000 miles. That what i heard in a report on it today in class, but you might want to look into that.

So, sounds like the thing that needs to be done is more research on Hydrogen technology.

  2. I wrote a wiki article on the subject (linked below), but it's more about the problems with hydrogen and why electric cars are better.

  3. if you live in the Santa Monica,Irvine,Torrance area(one of the very few areas in the U.S. where you can actually fuel up with hydrogen)

you will have the opportunity to lease a hydrogen fuel cell electric powered Honda fcx this summer for$600 per month.

the promo says it gets the equivalent of 68 mpg.

but since commercial hydrogen is made from natural gas & the process releases large amounts of co2 I'm not sure how environmentaly friendly it is.

if this catches on the companys that produce the hydrogen fuel may start sequestering the co2 back under ground near the point of production. of course the cost of doing this will have to be added to the price of the hydrogen fuel.

honda has a pilot plant that uses solar power to extract hydrogen from water but it only produces enough hydrogen to fill up 1 car tank per day.

keep an eye on the hondaFCX car to see how it works out in daily driving.
