  1. Real, mostly caused by us.

Hours of study of scientific articles (mostly peer reviewed), books, and scientific websites.

Here's a small portion of what I've seen, suitably condensed for a Yahoo answer.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

    summarized at:

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

    http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu...

EVERY major scientific organization has issued an official statement that this is real, and mostly caused by us.  The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.

  2. After reading hundreds of articles, I am convinces that the current warming is natural. The AGW agenda is being pushed by scientist getting large grants, politicians increasing taxes, and the UN trying to socialize as much as they can.

  3. It is man-made.

The USA now controls the weather.

    http://www.conspiracyarchive.com/NWO/HAA...

    My 2 cents.

  4. it's real.  our burning coal and oil caused it.

did you see the recent TV add featuring Newt Gingrich and Nancy Pelosi?  you can't get much more opposite than them.  and they're on the same side on this one.

how'd i get here?  i looked at those that support each side, and who they are affiliated with.  early on,  junkscience.com  was a denier.  the same guy was saying 20 years ago that tobacco was not a problem.

why do i think this?  watch the denier's arguments.

    - it's not happening.

    - it's just like happened when ice ages ended many times.

    - it's been warmer and colder in the past.

    - it's warming here just the same as on Mars.

    - are there SUVs on Mars?

    - were there any when the last ice age ended?

    - warmer is better - more food grows.

    - we humans are just not big enough to affect the entire planet.

    - we humans are just not smart enough to understand how climate works.

    - we only really know what's happened to the climate for 100 years or so.  we need to completely understand why past ice ages ended to be sure this is different.

    - okay, maybe it's real, but there's no way we can fix it.

    - even if we could fix it, it's way to expensive.

    - China and India, and all the other countries have to fix it first.

    - If we waste our money trying, it'll get worse, and all out jobs will go over to China.

    - in other words, just don't do anything to disrupt the applecart.  who's apple cart?  those that are making money.

and in the far corner, there's

    (thanks again, Ken)

  5. As far as the CO2 is concerned, when a volcano erupts it spews more pollution in one spewing then we have put into the air.

So how do the environmentalists think we should stop them from spewing.

Si I do not feel it is man made.

I remember during the 70's they told us we were going to freeze to death, and guess what we did not.

The weatherman cannot tell us what it is doing for a week without changing their minds, how can they tell us about 100 years and think they will be right.

It is all a bunch of crapola

  6. I tend to be very liberal... I think we definitely need to do something about it... I am currently taking an environmental chemistry course, and we have looked at things like CO2 (and other greenhouse gases) emissions, and they truly are a serious problem for the environment... one major thing is that If you look at a graph make sure you see one that spans the last thousand years or longer, because otherwise you are practically being lied to, if you only see a small part of a graph they can show you and say "see there isn't really all that much difference in emissions" but if you see the full graph, it shows a serious rise in levels of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.

One of the major problems though is that  we do not have all of the technology necessary  to completely stop emissions... everything that we do (even hydrogen fuel-cells) cause there to be emissions... We just need to work on the technology...

(sorry for the rant... I think I'm done now... ^_^; )

  7. Global warming is a natural phase of Earth, caused by some Solar Activities by Sun. We human don't have to bother about it. Some of the environmentalist says that this is because of the CO2 we are emitting into the environment, but the reality is that we are just contributing towards 1% to 10% of actual global warming.

If the actual cause of Global Warming is CO2 emitted by the humans then why Global Warming occures on other planets. Just Google for "Global Warming on other planets" and see the results, there are no humans on other planets.

Having too little CO2 in the environment will cause for the plants to die more early, more over it also cools down the temperature on earth.

Having too much CO2 (obiviously, not caused by humans. Mostly generated in the Sea/Oceans) will lead to Green House effect and will lead in increasing the temperature on Earth.

So, the best is to plant more trees so that there would be a balance for the consumption of CO2 on the planet.

I personally think that instead of thinking on this baseless issue try to think on what if Nuclear War broke out in the world, it will destroy Earth more rapidly.

So, next time whenever somebody says you about global warming, just ignore it.

  8. It is way over hyped

  9. Two things happened to me that made me sit up and pay more attention to what I then still referred to as global warming.  As a result, I now use the more appropriate term, global climate change.  (The term works better because even though some parts of the globe are warming, other areas are cooling.  But I digress).

    1. My first grandchild was born.

    2. I discovered the global warming section of Yahoo Answers.  In this section I found a disturbingly high level of ignorance and denial, and too much misdirected anger, an inordinate amount of it focused towards one former vice-president.

So I quit Yahoo Answers. I took my show on the road and started doing serious research.  I found an amazing array of books.  Programs. Websites.  Lots of websites.

I found university websites.  U.S. government websites.  I found international, sometimes collaborative websites. I found the sites of non-profits and think tanks.  Of business.  Of science. I found problems.  I saw the foundations for mitigation, for solutions.

    I found hope.

I'm writing a 2-part article on the topic for a local newsletter.  It's helping me to bring all of this into focus.  It's prompted me to delve back into Yahoo, gathering even more websites from the questions and answers posted here.

The first step in drafting the article was pulling together a "Ten Recommended Sites for Further Research" sidebar.  It was an amazing task, because I rediscovered how many great sites are available for someone to learn about what's going on.  So many people want to learn more, even if that's not always apparent on this site.  I find that inspiring, as those who learn will be likely to want to affect change at the personal level.

That's as good a place to start as any.

Global warming is but a component, in a group of destructive forces at work such as ;deforestation, desertification, soil and water contamination ,irresponsible or wasteful utilization of bio resources , air pollution,Non sustainable Agriculture, over pumping carbon aquifers

all concepts which are definitely not part of the Natural Processes of the Natural world

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    WHICH WE ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR,

The most prolific growth on this planet is part of the day in the mist and most of the time under clouds ,and the least growth is always directly in the sun .

To exchange the one for the other means changing local climates

We are exchanging Nature with Tar , concrete and open spaced mono cultures.

In 300 years half of the planets forests have gone ,and in the last 50 years half of the wet lands ,and rain forests

These Areas absorb heat during the day and release heat at night ,

Cause cloud formation(shade).humidifying the air on the surface as well as releasing excess water at the roots that keep rivers flowing ,which in turn brings more water into the Environment .

As well as contributing to absorbing carbon emissions as do the leaves of the trees together with the oceans .

All in all many factors which directly affect the local Environment .

The loss of the above resulting in rivers drying up ,less rain ,desertification, loss of habitat for many species and so on.

dryer and hotter surface environments which can manifest in different weather patterns such as tornadoes or bush fires

I may be stupid or Naive but somehow i believe that lots of these local environmental changes, can add up to affect global weather, If there are enough of them (and there are)

And then on top of that comes the story of the effects of pollutants released into Nature and especially the Air ,by MAN http://earthissues.multiply.com/photos/a...

A cocktail of events and a lot of the ingredients have MAN written all over them

So it is safe to assume that we should look at ourselves ,just a teeny bit ,for possible improvements ,and rectifying Eco errors that are with in our powers.

    What is a safer bet

to be or not to be
