  1. Learn how to release your blocks and roll out. The QB needs to be in on it. Work on your footwork and you can direct a Lineman away from the play, use your leverage and burn them for a short pass and they won't rush so hard.

  2. Well... i hate to break it to you but you really aren't big enough as far as strength goes...... you're going to have to be blocking defensive ends and other d-linemen and you are going to have to be strong enough in your legs to push them back and make a hole....  so work on your catching and do some squats/powercleans and you'll be fine.... and try to gain some weight....

  3. First off don't worry about your weight.  I had a 165 pound offensive Guard that was one of the best I ever coached.  I have had players as big as 290 and 300 LBs and I would take this 160 pounder over them any day.  Honestly!!

Being a good blocker is beliving in what you are doing and putting forth your best effort on every play.

Work with your line coach and your offensive tackles.  Comminication is imperitive on the field.

I know it won't help for this season but my best lineman, and Tightends where also wrestlers in the winter.  The leverage a wrestler uses is just like that on a football field.

  4. Hit the weights and do a lot of 10 yard sprints.  In the system I played in and coached the most we did a lot of double teaming with the tackle and tight end on the DT.  If your school does that slide off and hit the LB after you get the tackle turned away from the B gap.

  5. since you said you know how to block, work on running crisp routes and you said you have good hands, so that will help you be a versatile tight end . This will also help the receivers because you are another target the qb can get the ball to, and that would create one-on-one situations for the wr's
