Any veg advice?

I am currently a vegetarian and i am interested in becoming a vegan. I don't eat eggs anymore and i only drink soy milk now, but i need help to get fully vegan. All of my fake meat that i have been eating for a while has dairy products, so i dont know how i would get enough protein and eat a satisfying meal if I got rid of it! Any advice?

Also, can i substitute apple sauce for eggs in baked goods like cake mix and stuff? I know it works for pancakes but im not sure about anything else. And what about dining out?

Thanks anything helps!

  1. fake meat is made with either whey or soy, so for dairy free go with the soy stuff, like the 'smart' brand of food by lightlife is all certified vegan, and they make fake bacon and hotdogs and chicken and meatballs and just this huge variety of meat. the applesauce trick usually will work, like i make vegan cupcakes all the time and apple cider vinegar and applesauce are common substitues in the cookbook i get my recepies from. as far as dining out goes, things get a little tricky. i say find a really great vegan/vegetarian resturaunt. if not you may be stuck with a salad every single time you go out for dinner, and that gets annoying. i've been a vegetarian for almost 6 years now, since i was 11. i don't drink milk and i don't eat eggs and i'd go vegan if only my parents would let me...but i'm the only veg one in my house so oh well. from time to time i'll try and last a week as an honnest to goodness vegan, so i say try that out and if it works out, do it! :D

  2. Indian Hindus are vegetarian. They eat Mung  beans, rice and wheat and chick peas every day along with veges and spices. They arn't vegans but they get great source of protein just with these 3 grains as recomended by Ayurveda.

What to speak of the extensive choice of grains and beans we have available to us now in western countries.

It's just a matter of good combining which makes the protein available.

If a nutritionist is too meat orientated to help you then read a book or website about this

I just read a vegan cake website, maybe on Amazon. They used apple sauce mixed with soymilk. They also used 'egg replacer'. It was something about vegan baking and birthday cakes.

Dining out is tough. Are there Vegan restaurants nowadays? Must be. I'm in Asia so I don't know.

  3. Being a vegan is not a great health choice. Why...

    1. Being a vegan can deprive you from important vitamins

    2. Your limiting your food choice to very little

    3. Your body will lack the strength and energy it needs.

    Hope this helped!

  4. Have a talk with your doctor! Good luck! = )
