  1. The real key to succeeding in fantasy football is:  go for RBs and WRs first.  Always pick your other players later.  You can get a good QB in round 6-7.

  2. Draft 2 RB's in the first four rounds (first three if you can). Draft best players available, don't worry about drafting for need too much; there are always injuries and you will have more trade bait if you do this. Hold back on drafting rookies, no matter how much hype they have (the only exception would be a highly drafted RB who will be the starter from day one). Save rookie picks for later rounds when filling out your bench. Don't draft too many risky players, but also don't get too conservative in your draft.

Read all of the analysis on places like foxsports, yahoo, and other free sites. The biggest thing you can do for a draft is to go through several (at least several) mock drafts. I think foxsports has free mock drafts. If they don't join some yahoo leagues and do those live drafts. This way you will know where certain players are being drafted so you don't let someone slip through your fingers or you don't draft someone too high.

Research is key to drafting a good team...luck has a role too.

  3. Well my friend, looks like everyone has a ton of advice for you.

They will tell you to draft RBs like crazy first rounds.

If all the others in you league think like that, wouldn't it be great to grab Manning or Brady first round?

You just have to do your research and draft how you feel best.

The trick to the whole thing is knowing your matchups during the season and setting your line up accordingly.

Plus, keep you eyes on what's going on for injures and backups getting their chances.

Grant (GB) and Brandon Jacobs (NYG) are great examples of grabbing 3rd stringers that paid off big time last year when the starters got hurt.

It takes some time, and some learning.

    Good luck.

  4. i just about completely agree with the proud niners fan

but i think if u can get a top tier tight end in the 5 or 6 round take it i got gonzalez late in the 5th round in a mock. and its all about value picks

  5. Make sure you draft a couple good running backs with 2 of your first 3 picks. With so many teams using 2 backs it is harder to get an elite back who will get all of the carries. This makes them more valuable. you may not get a Owens or Moss this way but there are plenty of good recievers that are still available in rounds 3-5. Also load up on rbs and wide reciever. Dont pick a defense until one of the last 3 rounds and dont take a kicker until the very last round.

  6. Really depends on how many teams in your league, your draft position, and if it is a PPR (Points Per Reception) league.

Lets say you are in a league of 12 in a PPR League. if you are first 5 in draft, try and go with 2 RBs then get WRs after.  You may choose a QB in the 4th round unless you somehow have a top tier QB available in the 3rd round.

If you draft position is 6th or higher, try to snag 2 top WRs.  In a PPR league, the WRs are competitive with top RBs.  Then follow up with 2 RBs and same with the QB in the paragraph above.

TE and other players should follow after.  Be sure to pick up some sleeper RBs.  Most this year are rookies.

Pick up a Fantasy Football Mag.  Full of knowledge.

I have played FFB for years and always place in top 3.  Hope this helps.  I won championship in a 14 team IDP league with a 10th position in the draft.

Thumbs up to those who agree.

  7. Runningbacks are usually the top players in the league in fantasy, but if you have a low draft position and LT and Joseph Addai and AP are out, consider drafting Ronnie Brown of the Dolphins. He had a great start last year, but many people are not giving him a chance because of a season ending injury last year. But, I bet he could get a couple big point games if you start him.

  8. Do Not, automatically draft 2 RB's with your 1st 2 picks, this used to be a great strategy 5-10 yrs ago, because only the savvy owners were doing this, but these days everyone uses this strategy, which makes the RB pool dry up quickly. You do need to get a rb with one of your first 2 picks, preferably your 1st pick, this is my list of rb's in order that i would target in the 1st rd.

LT, Peterson, Westbrook, Jackson, Addai, Gore, L.Johnson, Portis. Now everybody is certainly not gonna agree with this order and that is for you to decide. I would personally take Moss after Gore in this list, because if you are that late in the 1st rd you should be able to come back and get a good 1rb with your 2nd pick. You really need a stud WR in a good draft, the only way i wouldn't is if you are the 10th pick in a 10- teamer, then you could probably get 2 good rb's. You need one of these guys, Moss, Wayne, TO, Edwards, or A.Johnson. If you get stud RB and WR, then in the 3rd rd i would target more WR's or RB's. Colston, Houshmanzadeh, Fitzgerald are good 2WR's. 4th rd is much the same, i would try to have 2 WR and RB's and then go after a QB, guys to target Palmer, Brees, Anderson. I would try to get a TE in the 6th rd or later. Target the 1st wave of Defenses in the 9-10th rd. Absolutely do not take a kicker until the last pick of your draft, there is too much variance from year to year. Draft guys with high upside, you need to mix proven guys with young guys. It is OK to take one or two proven guys, but you don't want a whole roster of Jamal Lewis' and Joey Galloway's. Take a later rd shot on guys like M.Forte, J.Stewart, Kevin Smith, or D.Bowe, Mendenhall, McFadden.

  9. A lot depends on how big your league is, but running backs are always premium.  I try to get 2 rbs, 1 wr and 1 qb in the first four rounds, although in my league we can start 3 rb so I might get three rb.  I never draft more wr than I have to (in our league I only have to start one and may start as many as three, I usually only draft two- one stud early and then a value bye-week replacement later).  I NEVER draft more than one kicker or defense, and NEVER draft a kicker before the last round.  The difference between the top scoring kicker and the 20 highest is usually not more than 1-2 points per game, and there are always kickers on the waiver/free agent lists.  Mason Crosby lad all kickers in scoring last year and I picked him up around week 5.  For the most part, I don't go for a defense real early.  This year is different for me in that I feel there are two defenses I will target a few rounds earlier than I would normally consider a D/ST: San Diego and Seattle both get sacks and turnovers and tds in bunches (San Diego average almost 6 sacks and turnovers combined per game last year).  I usually trust the adage "Defense wins championships- just not fantasy championships" but every now and then (Baltimore, Tampa Bay and Chicago in their most recent SB appearance years) there is a D that can push a team over the top.

  10. Okay everything depends on your draft position. The  best draft position this year is 10-12. These teams are coming up solid and more high powered then the other teams. I recommend going with two top WR such as T.O. and Randy Moss. Then in rounds 3-6 load up on RBs. In the later rounds get a solid QB such as Gerrard, Eli, or Matt Hasselback.
