Anybody know anything about Fawns?

About 5 weeks ago, two very tiny fawns showed up on our property - we live out in a rural area. We're sure something happened to their mother since she's never been seen. They come every day, sometimes twice a day depending on how hot it is, and sometimes they come during the night. They usually leave just at sunset and head for a heavily wooded area just west of our place. They eat whatever they can find in the corral area and on our lawn. We don't mind since they're so small, and we've even put out carrots and a little sweet horse feed from time-to-time and we have a large water trough. There are deer herds in the area and we hope they will grow big enough to join them. But they don't seem to be growing very fast. I actually don't know much about deer. Do they like hay - the kind you feed horses? Would baled alfalfa be too rich for them? What else can we feed them to help fatten them up for the winter so they can make it to adulthood? Hope someone out there is a deer expert.

i have no idea but that's pretty cool. you should call a vet.

you might want to be careful with the corn. it's probably fine but some animals can't digest it.

you have to call the animal people

they take them to a shelter.

and raise them.

those r the peple who take in animals who have had something happen to their mother.

and raise them.

you should not feed it

you should only put out water!

becuz then they will rely on u and when they go back into the wild they wont survive.

if u wanna be the better person call animal control/rescue!

dont listen to anyone else.

Hi there! We had the same problem last year when 1 little fawn showed up and hung around our place with no mom in sight, so we put out sweet feed and some alfalfa for her she came every night for her dinner, still to this day she comes over to eat with our herd of goats we even put a salt l**k out for her she loves it! Hmm.  I think they usually need the mother's milk depending on how small they are but what you have mentioned is good.  Alfalfa, dry corn and do a search on google to find out what their diet is in your area.
