  1. If you want a truely electric car and not just a hybrid that shuts off the motor when you are stopped or travelling at really low speeds, then hopefully GM is going to be releasing one in a few years.  It's called the Chevy Volt, and it's a Plug-In Electric Hybrid.  You park it in your garage and plug it in to an electrical outlet to charge overnight, and off of that charge you can go about 40 miles before the gasoline engine kicks in.  For me, I could easily drive back and forth to work every day (15 mile round trip) without using a drop of gas!!!  I can't wait until they release this car, and if they don't, well, I'm going to be quite upset if this car never gets produced, that's for sure!

Maybe after that I could throw some solar panels on the garage roof and be totally off the grid and not using any oil whatsoever!

  2. I dont know of any electric SUV but their are several hybrids available that run on electricity and gasoline

  3. Phoenix makes one:

At the moment they only sell it to fleets, but that should change in the near future.  Toyota used to make an electric RAV4, but they discontinued it in 2003.
