I have seen many mixed races. Quarter horse VS thoroughbred.  I have also seen fillies run against the boys. Not sure what else your question is about but hope this helps. The Racing Secretary can write races with many different conditions. At the old Jefferson Downs race track the racing secretary Warren Groce often wrote races limited to grays and roans that were very popular with the local fans.

I race my quarterhorse against my thoroughbred....

That's the only kind of mixed race I can think of in this category.  :)
