Anyone know about chickens??

Weird situation, a few weeks ago I found a random chicken had laid an egg in my flower pot and she was sitting on it. She has 14 eggs now and refuses to leave. I'm worried that the eggs might spoil and make a horrible mess. Is there any way to know if these eggs are fertilized? Should I do anything to help the mama chicken out? She sits on the nest pretty much day and night and only leaves for a few minutes at a time to find food and water. I have no idea where she came from, it's pretty weird because I live in an apartment in the city. Does anyone have any ideas or tips??

Well, you wouldnt really know. There has to be a rooster in order to be fertile. I would let her be. You never know, she may go to her real home and there would be a roo there. Let them be. They wont bust while she sets. After she leaves after 21 days you can get them and reaove them. If non hatch then she was a loner.

You wouldnt happen to live in Ohio would you? I had a hen go missing from my house. I live in city area as well.

You need to call the animal control because if the eggs do hatch they won't survive in the city. They will find a place for her and they can tell if the eggs are fertile or not.

HAHA. THATS VERY FUNNY. KEEP HER BECAUSE THE PERSON WHO HAD HER WAS FATTING HER UP TO EAT!! SO DONT TELL !!HER EGGS ARE NO GOOD, AND THEY WILL NOT SPOILE IF THERE IS NO CRAKS! SHE WILL GET FEDUP AND LEAVE HER EGGS. NEXT TIME SHE LAYS EGGS EAT THEM. LOL. AND LOVE HER, THEY ARE VERY SWEET IF TAME!

Just leave her be for now. It's 21 days for hatching, if they don't hatch after that, throw her eggs out, and cover up the area so she can't get back.

First of all shutup aniaml... or what ever your name is with the crazy indian bandadne. Ilost my chicken once and was very upset, i love my chickens very much and we always look after them so where she came from does not neccesarly mean that are going to kill her.

It is likely it came from a persons garden. The eggs wont hatch, but if u want to make sure keep them there for about 19-23 days after that chuck them. She may just be broody and there is nothing u can do about that unless u get her a chick, which i must say is more difficult than u think.

Leave her there, just make sure you feed and water her, give her warmth too. sound like ur doing a great job already so keep up with it good luck.
