  1. Not at all. The average American gets twice as much protein as necessary, but vegetarians usually seem to get just enough protein. Good sources of protein include spinach, kale, eggs, milk, tofu(eat sparingly--tofu contains estrogen) , and beans. There is nothing bad at all about being vegetarian, unless you consider saving about 90 animals a year a bad thing. :)

  2. Your suppose to take iron pills. Though I don't.

The only bad thing is you can't eat Big Macs three times a day.

  3. The plants get a bit annoyed.

  4. yeah take protein pills

  5. No....4 out of 5 cannibals prefer vegetarians.

  6. No nothing bad; everything about being a vegetarian is good : )

  7. Actually being a vegetarian has many positive benefits: healthier diet, many people confess to feeling better, I say I sleep better, food is cheaper.

There are two drawbacks though: 1 (this is largely meaningless) you can't eat meat, generally though, you only have to slightly alter your fav. foods. I LOVE sausage, lightly fried vegetables and fettuccine, the only difference now is that I eat Morning Star Sausage rather than more traditional brands, it doesn't taste any worse, just different, and you get used to it. 2 (this one hurts) people will always be asking you to explain your beliefs and reasoning, it's like being part of Opus-Dei, everyone thinks you're really strange. If you're an ethical vegetarian, this is actually a good thing, 'cause they're giving you a soap box, and you can enjoy it all day long. Else you might find this annoying, but you will get used to that as well.

  8. Nothing wrong with it. Actually you get the perfect amount of protein from everything vegetarian, whereas eating too much meat gives you too much protein. You just can't eat In-N-Out Burgers :(

  9. Being vegetarian CAN turn out terrible. I've tried it three times. The first time went well, the second I got very sick and had to stay in the hospital for two weeks, and the third i was too scared to keep it going haha.. You need protein in your system. But it also just depends on your body, immune system, reactions to foods, and all that jazz.

  10. its exactly the same if you eat a balanced omnivours diet...as long as you eat a balanced diet whether it be vegan veg or meat it is good for you

a vegetarian diet is no more healthier than a diet that includes all those fruits and veggies aswell as lean white meats in moderation

ok samstone you just met your first omni whos in better shape than you.....6 pack...working on making it 8...defines pecs.....17 and a halfy inch arms cholesterol of 2.4 im 5"9 and weight 170 pounds with a large muscular frame....i have a karate black belt, and i do several sports....id hardly say meat is making me chronically illl and obese...would you?

if eating meat was wrong and unhealthy in any moderation then why were we born omnivores instead of herbivores?

  11. depending on how strict your regimen is vegetarian you may need to supplement your diet with protein

  12. take fish oil pills they have lots of vit. d and all the nutrition you need to have a strong body.

  13. You are missing great meat products, but as long as you are healthy, you should be happy.

  14. i'm perfectly fine so my answer would be... no O_o

EDIT: i don't take protein pills and im a 13 year old kid >.<

  15. Protein pills? That's silly.  Vegetarians get plenty of protein in regular food.  The only thing "bad" about it is dealing with ignorant trolls who have no life : )

  16. Vegetarian is derived from an ancient Native American word meaning "Lousy Hunter"

  17. No, there is nothing wrong about being vegetarian. If you eat variety of vegetarian foods like different types of fruits, vegetables, lentils and grain you will not suffer any deficiency not even protein.

Being a vegetarian no need to take any other supplements, I am vegetarian by birth and never felt any need of vitamin or protein supplements. take balance vegetarian diet and save animals.

  18. Yes - they don't eat meat..............

  19. i dont think so-i mean welll yeah u dont get all the protein u need but theres things you can do-like taking protein pills-to help...i dont think theres a downside unless you can take pills in which case that could be a problem...but no theres nothing bad about it

  20. Depends; you may need to take some sort of supplement (possibly), but I'm not sure as I'm not one.

What annoys me with vegetarians, though, is that fact that they don't even know the real reason not to eat meat. True vegetarians will tell you eating meat today is wrong because the animals have horrible lifes, locked indoors, in small confines and not allowed to enjoy themselves ever. Poser vegetarians will say that eating animals is wrong, even though humans clearly are designed as omnivores and history shows us that ancient man hunted all the time.

I compromise buy trying always to buy organic meat, where the animal is allowed to live a long, enjoyable life, in open pastures. I also never ever eat veal (EVER).

Back to your question. If you find a good diet that supplies of the necessary vitamins and proteins you're good. This can be hard to do without meat, but far from impossible.

PS-most people eat much more meat then they need or should.

  21. Hey :)

I'm a veggie, and I have been for 11 years, sine I was four!

Iron and protein supplements could be helpful, but you don't need them if you eat a balanced diet. Nuts and pulses are good sources of protein, and leafy vegetables are good for iron.

Sometimes in can be hard to find veggie options in restaurants or fast food places, but most places are getting better and more varied vegetarian options.

It can be quite repetitive, especially if you don't like meat substitutes. But with so many different ones out there, you're bound to find some you like. (Quorn ftw)

Meat grosses me out, so it's bad for me when people are frying mince or whatever cause I hate the smell, but I'm weird like that :) Also sometimes I have to use different frying pans with the fats and juices and stuff.

    Hope I helped :)

  22. I guess for former meat eaters, it means less wiggle room, especially when you become vegan but it is healthier.

  23. ermm yes there can be

if you are veggie its advised that you

take vitamin b12 suppliments as it cantains the

nutrients that are ound in meat

it can have a long term effect if not balence correctly

  24. If you're prepared to make a big commitment, and you like beans and rice together...

Ok, so you don't have to like beans and rice. Just make sure that you get enough protein, whether it be by tofu or special combinations of food such as: grain+lagoom=protein!!

You have more energy, you feel great, and don't think about meat in 3-6 weeks.

One thing, however, is that people younger than 10 probably want to check with their doctor. A friend of mine said that when she was younger she wanted to be a vegetarian, but doctors said she had to eat chicken every now and then because of her blood type. But I think that is really rare. And you are probably older than 10!

  25. Nope!

No need to take protein pills--just eat a well-balanced diet!

You may want to take a supplement in case you're not getting all your vitamins, but a varied diet should take care of that.

  26. You don't need protein pills; just a well balanced diet.

    Bad things:

    1. It can be a pain eating out with friends. If they don't mind going to a vegetarian restaurant, it's a lot easier on you. Otherwise, you'll often end up eating a salad. Same problem with visiting people you don't really know; you need to diplomatically explain you don't eat meat  (eg. Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner, barbeques, etc.)

    2. Vegans need B12. Supplements or fortified foods.

    3. Meat-eaters get in your face about it constantly, even if you're not looking for an argument.

    4. They sneak animal products into almost everything. It's hard to shop for toiletries, soaps etc. unless you go to a health-food or specialty store.

In reality, the hassles are pretty minimal and you just learn to deal with them.

  27. NOOOO! IM 1!!!

  28. Nope. As long as you eat a balanced diet, there is NOTHING wrong with it!

  29. Just make sure you get enough protein.

  30. Nothing at all you don't have to worry about letting your meat loaf, good choice

  31. My only problem is sometimes it's hard finding something I want to eat when away from home.  I've recently gone vegan, whereas before I ate eggs & dairy.  I actually feel healthier this way, but a lot of food has dairy or eggs.    You can get a good protein easily by eating rice and beans.  A hint for when you're in a hurry is Amy's makes some good frozen dinners that are vegan.  I also always have rice and beans on hand and fruit and cut up veggies.
