Question:

Apartment Based Composting?

by  |  earlier

Hey ya'll. So here's the deal: I live in an apartment.

Most of my wasted has been reduced or recycled down to the point where I barely throw anything away. But of course, there is still the matter of organic wastes.

Bearing in mind that I only have a small balcony to work with, what are the best ways to set up a small scale composting operation? Methods, materials, etc.

Thanks for the help!

  1. Vermicomposting!!!  It's a terrific way to get rid of the organic wastes in a small space.  Plus if you do it correctly....no smell!

I am a teacher, and we do vermicomposting (or as we call it "wormy composting") in our classroom.

  2. Get a huge tub and start using earth worms.   Vermicomposting.  They decompose organic items quickly.  Do more research online about it.  It is good for small areas like an apartment. I use to use them when I lived in one.
