I am really confused about FAFSA and everything that goes with it. It's late April 08 now-- if I apply for FAFSA now... what semester or year can I start school (if I get any aid..)

My schools website says this and this is why I am confused:

The Department of Education must receive your application no later than June 30 for the previous school year.

What does "for the previous school year" mean?

  1. If you fill out a FAFSA now, you can start school this Fall.

  2. in my understanding u have to apply every year if you are under 18 your parent need there tax return documents and how much they make and if you are applying online you need a pin number

you should apply on the first day i think in JANUARY to get more money GOOD lluck   go to google and type in FASA

  3. I just applied for it for starting college, and received it. I graduated from high school in 2006.

  4. In the quote it means it wants you to fill out your fafsa before June 30, 2009 for the 08-09 semesters (the semesters before this deadline date).  Or June 30th, 2008 for the 07-08 school years - this includes this summer).

If you want to go to school this summer (Its not to late to apply for fin aid) you do the 07-08 fafsa using your 2006 income tax information.

If you want to start school this fall (The final deadline for this application is June 30, 2009) using your 2007 income tax return.  As soon as possible.  That will get you your aid the earliest.
