I'm 18, i'll be 19 this summer and i'm looking for a summer job and was considering being a cart girl. I know you can't serve alchohol in my state until your 21, so would i still be able to do it? Also, I have 12 golf courses within 5-10 miles of my house, so should i apply for the more expensive ones to make more money in tips, or does it not really matter?

  1. with the whole alcohol thing...it probably depends on the club and their rules on it...and it would probably be better to go into a more expensive golf club...but it might be harder to get a job there because of standards at a high class club rather than another one.

  2. you do have to be twenty one to serve alchol without supervision . if you apply as a server at a private club . you will be treated with respect , and class by the members . private courses perfer young women , at 18 , i think you are too young to be a cart girl . there would be a lot of ignorant sexists remarks , from male golfers . 21 , you would be able to ignore this sick behaviour , but at 18 , not worth the dissrespect v. bieng private course , the sexists pigs are allowed to get away with thisinnane behavior . definatly try the dinning room , less stress , no insults . it is a very good job treated much better by clientele , than resturant waitress .

  3. Usually 'Cart Girl' or 'Beverage Cart Girl' is a job given to the gal with the most priority.  I doubt one can just go out and be the 'cart girl' you'd probably have to start in the restaurant and work your way up.  Being cute I'm sure will help, but you also have to know about Golf Etiquette, I'm sure someone could train you as to how to be the 'cart girl' but that may not be enough.

  4. go for the most expensive ones first for better tips. if you can't make it there just apply at any of them.

  5. If the legal drinking age is 21, then the legal serving age is also 21 unless there are quirky laws in the state.. If the cart serving beverages, sodas and the like on the course, carries liquor, I do not think you would qualify as a cart girl.

  6. In Illinois where I play golf most, the beverage cart girl can be 18 but has to take a short class about serving alcohol.  Also the girls that are under 21 don't open the beer bottle, they just "sell" it to us.  By not opening it they are technically not "serving" and it is perfectly legal.  For mixed drinks they "sell" us one of those little airline bottles and put the mixer and ice in a cup.  We open and pour the alcohol ourselves.  You might get bigger tips at the more upscale courses - but not necessarily so just apply to them all.

  7. No you have to be 21 to serve alchohol. I do however think that you still have a good chance of getting hired on. You can serve everything else...and if your cute your chances are good.  I dont think the more expensive ones will be a much difference in the tips. Just apply at all of them and cross your fingers! Good Luck
