... from Chicago area to Colorado Springs, and back two weeks later, for maybe 20-25 people. Looking for cheap, not cushy.

Anyone who actually knows give me a good round number?

  1. 20-25 people is a hard number to work with for charter flights.  That is larger than most typical charter planes, but most charter airliners will be too big for any cost effectiveness.  The two weeks will also rack up costs quickly in either a minimum wait time charge or repositioning charges.

You won't be able to charter a plane for less than you could buy airline tickets.  You may be able to get a group rate for that many people on an airline.

If you really want to charter, you can either charter 3 smaller planes or try to find a large turboprop.  There aren't very many turboprops on charter large enough for that group, so you'd probably need to pay hefty repositioning fees.  It sounds like something like a Dornier 328 is about the right size.  Depending on what you can find out there, you're looking at anywhere from $40,000 to $100,000 total on the cheap end, more likely much more because of repositioning or wait fees.  If these numbers didn't scare you off, you can contact a charter broker to get a better idea of what your options are.

  2. Well it depends if you go to a charter website. You always must request a quote on prices. And for chartering cheap is no option it is luxurious. But if my estimates are accurate you could most likely be looking around $8000-12000 round trip per person. And obviously the bigger the plane the bigger the price same goes for range.

  3. King air 350 = $1450/hour

You're going to stay two weeks so they'll need to reposition twice. (two round trips.)

You'll need two airplanes for the 25 people.

It's approximately a 2.5 hour flight from Chicago to Colorado springs.

    2.5 * 2 (one round trip) = 5hours * 1450 = $7250

times two for the second airplane = $14,500.

times two for the repositioning = $29,000

Throw in the wonderful high taxes on "luxury" they have in Illinois and Chicago.... and... well, chartering a bus might not be a bad way to go.
