Arabian Saddle on Fox Trotter?

Can I use an arabian saddle on my Missouri Foxtrotter? I would assume the answer is no but I want to make sure. What is the difference between an arabian saddle and a regular western saddle?

Yes you can, but you need to check the barrel of your horse to make sure the saddle it not gonna be too small for it...if its too small it can rub the horse skin raw, and the horse will not perform very well with an ill fitting saddle.

I Western Pleasure my stallion, but with any horse you must make sure it fits correctly, or it can cause problems

Ive tryed it o nmy walkers and the tree pichs them.  Btu the MFts are stocker than TWHs so probaly not.  Tuckers do really well on MFT's i prefer the plantation saddle but it cost alot so a Circle Y flex woudl be your best bet.

It might depend on what type of Foxtrotter you have.  Arabian stock saddles have a shorter, narrower tree that is shaped to fit an Arab's usually much shorter, narrower and smaller, sort of wedge-shaped back.  If your Foxtrotter is the small type and the Arab saddle is not too narrow for him, you can use it.  You could use it on any small, narrow horse that it reasonably fits.  But it will probably not fit most other horse breeds in general.  Arabs can be very hard to fit, hence their special saddles.

You may be able to use it, it's all in the fit.  The saddle needs to fit well on the horse to prevent pinching but also to give you a secure seat.  If the bars are not wide enough, the saddle will "topple" on top the horse and keep you too high and out of balance.  It's not a matter of money, the most expensive saddle is useless if it doesn't fit the horse.  Many time "arabian" describes the style, usually a rounded skirt.  You need the proper size "bars" for your horse.  Try your arabian saddle, if it feels uncomfortable, you probably need to look into a different saddle.  Some shops takes trades.  Good luck.
