Are Dobermans Good Fighting Dogs?

Question

I ask because I know they make great guard dogs but I have always wondered about how they fare in fighting terms. Could they take on a Akita? What are your thoughts?

i dont agree with fighting dogs but......

a pit bull would win against a akita or doberman because they r trained to go for the neck, but i dont no that much about akitas but i do no that dobermans only attack when they or one of the companions are threatened so i dont think u could even get them to fight!! hope i helped.....

I THINK THEY SHOULD NEVER BE FOUGHT WITH ANOTHER DOG NO MATTER WHAT. BECAUSE THAT'S CALLED CRUELTY AND YOU COULD GO TO PRISON FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, SO U SHOULDN'T OF EVEN ASKED THAT QUESTION.

We don't care if they could take on an Akita or not.

Most of us here don't agree with dog fighting and don't enjoy talking about which dog could tear apart the other.

Dog fighting is for losers anyways.

It doesn't matter if it can take an Akita or not, a MAJORITY of us don't agree with dog fighting. I hate dog fighting.

No dog should be used for fighting!  No dog would make a good fighter without repercussions.  Thats how people get mauled, teaching them to rip into things.  

Guard dogs should be alert not aggressive.

Dobermans are great guard dogs,but i dont know and i dont want to know if their good fighting dogs,dog fighting is cruel!

Dobermans are not a pit fighting breed as Akitas are.   That's not to say that they might not have an argument with the dog next door.  And males are often aggressive with other males.  But they don't have the gameness you see in pit bulls.  The Presa canario (think Dianne Whipple) is one of the few breeds that could defeat a pit bull in battle. This is all theoretical, of course, as dogfighting is illegal in all 50 states.   Those of us who care about animals are doing all we can to mop up the mess left by those cruel people.

I think the mere fact that you are even considering the fighting ability of one dog against another is disgusting.

Dog fighting is wrong and cruel, and considered animal abuse.
