Are Doping Penalties tough enough?

With the Olympics in full swing and some of the Gold Medal winning Athletes 'returning' from doping suspensions are the penalties really tough enough?

Do the current bans reflect an acceptance of doping?

Good enough, not many cases this time round. A great improvement.

I believe that if you take dope once there is a good chance that you will do it again so a life time ban would be a good deterrent

The doping penalties are not tough enough. Convicted cheats should be banned for life.

Look at the  1500m mens swimming - Oussama Mellouli won after returning from an 18 month suspension.  Hackett came second and was exhausted, the drug cheat Mellouli jumps out of the pool and runs around like he is full of beans - obviously he has spent the 18 months doping up again!

No . You are gone for ever. That will discourage cheats.

Doping should be permitted.  Professional sports are about money and endorsement contracts anyway.  By allowing doping, sporting would become more honest about its true motivation.
