  1. yes

  2. all lcds are digital, period.

  3. Not all LCD TVs are "digital". You haven't included enough information to tell it your TV is.

In this context, the word digital means that the TV has a tuner that can receive digital TV broadcasts.

It is not true that all TVs have to be digital after 2/17/09. What happens on 2/17 is that most of the old analog over the air broadcasts will be shut down. You are only effected if you get your TV with an antenna. This date has nothing to do with cable or satellite TV programming.

There are several ways to tell if your LCD TV has a digital tuner.

    1. Look at the TV's menu. All "digital" TVs have a way to scan for digital channels.

    2. Check the owner's manual or google the make & model of the TV. If it has an "ATSC" tuner it can receive all digital over the air signals. If it has a "QAM" tuner it can also receive some digital cable channels.

    3. If it was sold as a "HD Ready" TV, it does not have a digital tuner.

Even if you get your TV with an antenna and have an analog only TV, all you need to do is buy a cheap converter box to go between your antenna and your TV. The government is handing out $40 off coupons so you can buy one for $10 - $20.
