  1. The folk who live in the counties of Down and Antrim are mostly of Scotish ancestory. We all speak english but the scotish Galich and the irish gaelic language are similar and there is also a scots/irish dialic which is not spoken. They are all celtic languages as is english and all are interelated

  3. Totally different cultures!!

  4. okay okay here's one

  5. If you are from the states, then you should Know that there are people of scottish and irish ancestory and first generation immagrants from both scotland and ireland there. Can you tell the difference.

Basically Think of every american made film that has scottish and irish people in it (accents) and forget it. No amererican can do an irish accent or scottish. All that top of the morning and augh  c**p is insulting to both our fine races.

You talk of Gaelic like its one language, like french. To be Gaelic is like being a member of a tribe, that is made up of other tribes, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, Manx, Cornish, Brethons from brittany in france.

All speak a different form of gaelic. Scots on the western isles speak scots gaelic, which is similar to Irish. but on the mainland it is not common. Place names is where you see similarity. Dundee in scotland, dundalk in ireland.  Dun in both means fort.

Irish people would appreciate the scots celtic ancestory and would share a common history as the scots in terms of battles with their southern neighbour.

I my self would love to see an independant Scotland, the oil and gas rights of the north sea should go to the scottish people.

  6. I am Irish and I do not look, talk, or smell like the Scots.

  7. Ireland populated the land of the Picts in the 4th century A great many of today's Scots are descended from the Irish, I suggest you read up on certain Sects Like the Mc Neils of Barra....Gaelic is the language of the Gaels not necessarily theCelts....Mise

and I can safely say, that scottish people are very very similar to Irish.. we shars a common ancestory..many of our names are the same.. there are many Irish who emigrated to scotland and don't believe what others have been saying..

our language is very similar, and especially our bastardisation of the English language is almost Identical

Scots gaelic is similar but not the same as Gaeilge ( irish)

I have found, that glasgow people have the same sense of humour as people from Dublin , and if Ireland don't qualify for the world cup, we cheer on the scots, and I imagine the scots do the same for us

the only people who will disagree with this answer will be the bigots on both sides .. catholics won't want to be seen as being similar to Protestants.. and vice versa..that's an entirely different kettle of fish though...but believe me, we are much more similar than some people are prepared to admit

  12. Egads, no! The Scots gave up.

Plus, Irish folk are sexier and classier.
