Are Wimbledon organizers nuts?

What would possess them to "embargo" a men's semifinal match, especially one with the number one player?

No, it has nothing to do with Wimbledon.  It has to do with the TV stations or networks.  In order to broadcast any sport event from overseas you have to buy the feed.  The Networks have to get sponsors to pay for the feed as it is very expensive.  Many of them are too lazy to get sponsors and that is what happen.  It is really ashamed though because I would love to have seen it live instead of a repeat later on.  The repeat fees are free but carrying it live cost lots of money.

  3. It isn't truly Wimbledon that embargoed the match, it's the TV companies. They contractually block others from showing matches that they wish to have exclusive rights to. Often they will not show the match live at all, but wait until a more popular viewing time. All this can be very frustrating to people who are more interested in watching live tennis then watching large media companies make a few more dollars. It's just more corporate greed.
