  1. the benefits of foils really out weigh the cap.

    with foils you have

*more control over how fine/chunky the high/low lights are.

*you can have more than 1 colour.

*they get closer to the roots.

    *less painful.

*more control over where the colour is being placed (on particularly gray areas).

    * can be used on any length/thickness of hair.

    * not done my a trainee.

with the cap (especially on short hair) you have a uniform colouring producting a lepard like effect.

    * the root is left as the cap rarely "fits" the head leaving a gap between the root and the applyed colour.

*really only good on mid/short hair which is med/fine in thickness.

    * will often be done by juniors as its very easy (thus non  experianced colourist)

    * really only 1 colour at a time can be applyed.

*damaging to you hair (being pulled through a tight hole)

    * no control over getting coverage on problem areas (such as gray patches)

  2. I think foils are better. They don`t hurt and they can get the color closer to your scalp. Cost more, but well worth it! I use foils all over my head, and I don`t have chunks.

  3. cap hair is for short hair onli and foil is for med/long hair.

so depending on how long ur hair is depends what method wud b done to your own hair

  4. 100% FOIL !!! cap sucks.. it hurts, i makes thick ugly highlights, i doesn't look natural !

  5. Foils are better - to be honest i do not know any reputable hair salons where i live that uses the cap method-caps are outdated and a form of torture!

  6. foils are for more chunky highlights

Cap is for a more evenly distributed and subtle effect

    Foil is not painful

Cap hurts like h**l (I have long hair)

  7. the cap hurts

    i always have foils done

  8. i have foils in my hair they are very subtle and are easily put in without getting bad hair dyes into my scalp

but for ether one you choose make sure you pick a highlight hair colour very close to your original or you will end up looking like a cheap zebra
