Are contacts bad for your eyes?

Before you answer this question, read this.

Before, my vision wasn't all that bad. I could see clearly 10 feet away from me or so. Once I put contacts on and took them off, I can barely see 3 feet away from me! So then i got pink eye from my contacts, so I couldn't wear them for three months. And my vision is just as bad, I can barely see anything now because of what my contacts did.

My contacts ruined my vision, now I can't see w/out glasses or contacts, before I could've. What the heck happened? I did as I was told, the contacts I was given could last a whole month 24/7.

Now that I'm wearing contacts again, this green goo keeps building up in my eye when before it didn't.

I regret putting contacts on, so please tell me what the heck is going on!

  1. if u see clear with ur glass or contact lens than you dont have any thing to do

progression of the power of the eye is not related to usibg and not using glass or contact lenses

and about allergies you got to discard the things you are allergic to.

  2. Contacts dont suit some people, and maybe you are one of the unlucky ones. sorry :(

when I first took lenses they hurt so much that i could not wear them for more than 15 mins, but now i bear the pain and can wear them. it depends on practice.

  3. No, contacts are not bad for eyes, in general.

Sounds to me like you might be allergic to the material that your contacts are made of. There are a few things you can do:

    1) Change to a different brand. Different contacts are made of different material, with different water contents.

    2) Take out your cantacts every night. Do not wear them for more than 10 hours, and let them disinfect for at least 6 hours.

    3) You may be allergic to the cleaning solution. Try differnet brands (NOT store brands) until you find one that works best for you.

    4) You did not get pink eye from your contact. You got it from your hand that carried the pink eye, which you put into your eye.

    5) Your vision isn't worse because of contacts. It may have changed naturally. Also, the cantact sometimes makes it harder to see up very close while wearing them, and sometimes takes up to a day or so to go back to glasses vision. If your vision changed, it's not the contact that did it. Another thought, your optometrist may have given you the wrong Rx. It won't hurt you permanantly, but may give you headaches.

  4. maybe u have the low class and cheap contact lenses--

try to buy the ones who can last at least a year--

then wash them everyday with lense cleaner--

u can buy some in optical clinics--

and always put some eyesdrops on ur eyes when u wear contacts--never leave them dry--they should always be WET!
