Are ducks good pet?

Most ducks can be noisy and your neighbors might complain.  Muscovy ducks, however, are pretty quiet.  You'll need to protect your duck from dogs and wildlife that may kill it, and it will need a place to swim...maybe a kiddie pool if you don't live near water.  You'll also need to know what to feed a duck to keep it healthy.  First thing, though, is to find out if ducks are even allowed as pets where you live.  Some areas classify ducks as livestock and don't allow them in the suburbs.  A call to your local animal shelter will let you know if it's OK to have a duck as a pet.

my dad had a pet duck when he was little ! :D but he lived by the beach where it was cool. so it depends on the environment. i would say just get a dog, because ducks would be alot harder to care for, i mean they dont sell duck food at the pet store.

I hope you plan on keeping him outside.  I guess they could be a good pet.  They p**p everywhere.  They dont smell the best either.  If you get one you should think about getting him a friend cause they like to hang out with other ducks.  They'll follow each other around.  Its funny.

ducks are really cute pets they are really easy to take care of this is what u have to do daily:

1. when u get up in the morning clean there cage they kinda stink but no worrys!! its ok theyre still good pets.

You should always keep them outside. make a good cage for them because the racoons and cats might get in there they p**p every where so if u have a patio hose it off at the end of each night or when it starts to stink.

2.water they should always have fresh water so when u go to play with them or go and check on them check there water if its dirty clean it

3.food get them some food called flockraiser its in a green bag. get that from a store called western feed pet supply. its a 50lb. bag it is$15.00 plus tax if u get two ducks feed them a cup a food daily. when they are 3 months old feed them the mix with corn they like it feed that to them twice a week.

and they love fruit just cut up the fruit and put that in there water bowl and when they are done with that clean theyre water trust me they love fruit!!!!

4 swimming they love to swim so get them a kitty pool the little one from walmart.empty it every other day if they p**p in there water thats normal thats a sign of them having a good time but if there water really starts to reek clean it.

5.get the cage ready at night so its time for them to go in there home. they can live in a dog house or u can build a cage ur self or with someones help for the bedding get a bail of hay for $10.00 that is a good deal it last up to a month. Do not get newspaper or wood there legs will start to hurt really bad then they can have leg problems then that can lead to a broke leg but with the white pekin if it has a broken leg its normal because they have a fat body and skinny legs there ment for eating they make the best pet duck ever

if u get them when theyre ducklings spend alot of time with them they will start to know u more and build a relationship with them they wii think your there mommy treat them like your there mommy

Get a white goose as a baby. They are so funny but I recommend you get 2 so they have a friend to play with. They will bond to you and stay this way. They are very funny because they will follow you around your house and you can teach them to walk down the road like a dog.  They are also protective if you bond to them.

Not for indoors they will p**p everywhere and make a real mess. They are flock animals so you should get 2 or 3, they are a bit of work to look after, but if you get them as chicks they are really sweet!!
