  1. Yes

  2. yes they ar e

  3. He probably hasn't grasped the tank bit, but they are smart when looking for food or a mate, although the mate search might be down to instinct.  Pheromones and all that.

  4. i always feed mine from one of those krcket keeper thingys as i hate the blooming crickets and within a week she realised food came from black tubes and goes crazy when she sees the tube coming. she also comes straight to my hand without the tube when i call her but she wont go near my hubbys, so i think they are really clever and really cool

  5. many people will argue you to the death for that one, because many people believe that all reptiles are unable to distinguish people as "people"

this is true with most lizards, as if they can't see our eyes or hear our breathing close to them, they will think our arms are like trees.

most geckos and larger snakes however, are aware of their surroundings in the sense that they can distinguish different people, different threats and different objects and relate them to events.

as mentioned above, geckos will remember where food comes from, my crestie goes straight to l*****g my fingers as soon as i take her out, because i have been hand feeding her for the last few weeks.

snakes are very similar in the way that they can recognize different attitudes in people and most definately recognize their owners.
