are they really this cheap?

I was doing a spanish project, and I chose this house in costa rica. It was really nice, like it would be considered a really really nice house in the US. But then the price said (the site was in spanish, it was a costa rican website) it said that it was 328,000.00. now would that be in costa rican currency? or united states currency? I would assume costa rican, but then I converted the price and it came out to 665 USD. Is that right? will 665 dollars buy me a house in costa rica?

if so... jeez i'll just move there. :P

  1. $1 US = 500 Colones

    328,000. Colones = about $65,000. US

The price is probably in US Dollars.  Buying a house in Costa Rica is now pretty expensive!

  2. jajajajaja It s a joke, right?

  3. that would actually be in costa rican currency... but your math is all wrong. that is not $665.

  4. Most of the real estate website shows the prices in US dollars and colones (Costa Rica currency). I believe the price you saw at that website has to be in US dollars.

There is no way you can find a house by that price, unless it is in very bad shape.

    1 US$ = 498 (328000x498)

For 665USD you can rent a nice house.

  5. One of the many reasons why Americans do prefer to move and live in Costa Rica is because the lifestyle is better and more affordable. It is quite true that Costa Rica real estate is cheaper compare to nearby locations. Affordable yet quality.

  6. I personally dont find the houses cheap here, actually Costa Rica is expensive. Houses are at $350 000 and you would have to look locally to find cheaper houses.

  7. 350K USD.............sorry...............

  8. hmm i doubt it would be nice if it was in pesos but hmm but if it was a nice one cahnces are its USD since its a usa territory

  9. Most likely if it was a really fancy house then that was the monthly rent of the house.  Most houses in low income neighborhoods of CR cost 15k to 35k USC.   So if its a fancier house in a nicer neighborhood then its more expensive than that.

  10. Shh.. don't tell anyone. You can also hire cheap labor for about $2 an hour.

  11. I guess when they are saying 325,000 they mean USD, as you will not find a house for $600 and if you can do let me know.

I have included some links to help you out on your project.

Costa Rica is its own nation and not on US soil.  I believe the other poster is referring to Puerto Rico
