  1. I had a 91 Protege and it was a great car.  It didnt have a lot of power but it got 32-35 mpg depending on the driver.  In my opinion it drove better than my moms 97 Civic although the mileage wasn't quite as good.

I sold it at 115k after a drunk hit me trying to run a red light.  Front brakes lasted about 80k miles.  Rear brakes and clutch were still original.  Didn't burn or leak any fluids.  The seatbelt sensor did beep sometimes thinking I wasn't wearing it but thats it.

  2. My d-in law bought one in 98 and it was great. good gas mileage and very comfortable. The length of time it lasts and how it runs depends mainly on how you take care of it.

  3. yes, they're a very good car.  often compared favorably to the corolla and civic while having more passenger room and a sportier drive.
