  1. They are the coolest.

    Much cooler than Floodplains.

    Cool fact is that the bend quite alot.


  2. Meandering occurs when the river flows through relatively flat terrain. If you look at an aerial map of any river with a flood plain, you will see the evidence of meandering: dry channels, oxbow lakes, mud islands, etc.

  3. a meander starts as a bend in a river the water flows at a high velocity on the outside bend so it is eroded by hydrolic action and the debris from this is deposited on the inside bends sometimes called the slip off slope a meander will eventually form an oxbow lake.

  4. The water goes faster around the outside of the meander...which is why they are the shape they are. They erode quicker around the outside. They're also deeper on the outside edge.
