  1. No. They have to swim all the time to get the oxygen.

  2. Sharks do not sleep so they are not technically "nocturnal".

They have been observed to eat more at night than in the daytime because they can get in closer to shore then without being detected so easily. The tide is going out then and the water is shallow and full of good eatin fish.

They have to keep moving to breathe. They are constantly eating. Their brains are primitive.

  3. Sharks don't sleep.

    Fish don't sleep.

    they rest, not sleep.

have you ever seen shark fishing at night?

all sharks are roaming during the day, because they are awake.

  4. Wow, first off everyone that has responded is wrong.  To start not all sharks have to constantly move to stay alive... believe it or not many of them do stop swimming.  On top of that sharks do sleep.  For those that cannot stop swimming they have the ablility to shut off enough of their brain that they get rest while still moving.  Kinda like how humans sleep walk, sharks sleep swim.  For the species that can stop swimming most find a safe place along the bottom or in/around rocks that it is safe.

Anyway as to your question there are a few species that hunt at night but the bulk hunt at dusk (though it can carry into the night).  Not sure if you would call that really nocturnal though because they are still active during the day.  To your question... tigers are on species that tend to mostly hunt at night.
