  1. for nursing mothers and for NON nursing moms for the first week.. your milk will still come in and will still leak.. these are good for all preggos and new moms

  2. YES!!! they are a necessity even if you aren't planning on nursing your breast will get engorged and leaky either way! I didn't know this until it was already happening!

  3. MOST DEFINETLY!!!!!!!! Unless you want to constantly have wet spots around your b***s.

  4. Not for everyone. I havent even had my baby yet and I need them. I'm leaking pre-colostrum all the time. Its a sign of good milk production. But everyone is different. I know ppl who never leaked and rarely did when they were breast feeding too.

  5. i think that would be the same as asking if tampons or pads are a neccessity when menstruating  lol

YES, they are unless you want to walk around with wet shirts all the time.

  6. I would think so. I started leaking at 28 weeks and it's only getting worse and I'm only 30 weeks. I can only imagine what it's going to be like after I deliver my little girl in October!

You really need to use nursing pads or else your bra will be wet and it can soak through to your shirt. It's better to just use them and save yourself from a possibly embarrassing situation!

  7. I'm just now at 6 months and have already started stocking up on them as I intend to breastfeed.  That is the advice I got from other breastfeeding moms.  It's better to be safe than sorry (and show the tell-tale signs of breastfeeding to the mailman!).  Good luck to you!

  8. I needed them with my first baby because I had no sense of control.  Once you know what 'let down' feels like, then you can start to better control leakage.  For my first, it took 4-6 weeks!

With my second, I had control within a week.

Everyone is different, have a box on hand.

  9. I had to start using them at 7 months because I was leaking.   At first I didn't even know what it was, I just had a little round wet spot on my shirt.  I don't leak a whole lot, but if I don't wear something (even a small piece of folded tissue), I'll have spots on my shirt.

  10. I never used them... However, I did have occasional wetness on my shirt, too.

  11. oooooh YES.....ew the smell of breast milk on your clothes is vile!!

  12. for me it was, if not my shirt whould have been wet!

  13. For most at first it is. At least until your supply gets regulated & evened out. I have heard alot of good about something called lilypadz, they are silicone & stick to your skin & don't allow you to leak AND they don't show through your clothes like the bulky pads do.  Also though if you wanna go the cheaper route, you can get some old receiving blankets & cut out 8 circles & stack them in stack of 4, sew each 4 together &^ you have a washable nursing pad. Good luck

  14. At first, yes. You can occasionally leak when full until your milk regulates.

  15. I don't know WHAT I would have done without them. I couldn't stop the milk from flowing out... it was ridiculous. My sheets were soaked, my shirt would get soaked. So I'd say, yes... I definetely needed them. I don't know if everyone leaks as much as I did, but I would assume especially when your milk is first coming in that you'd need them too.

  16. not for every mother, but in the first few weeks or months of nursing you may leak a lot. Better to have some on hand just in case.

  17. Unless you want to be changing your bra and shirt all the time, yes. You'll leak at times and there isn't anything more embarrassing than that if you're walking through the store.

  18. Nope. It's cheaper to make your own by buying the cheapest brand of disposable diaper and cutting them up to make your own.

  19. They were for me.  My let down reflex is really strong and tends to come on any time I bend over.

  20. Depends how much milk you have. If you are not prone to leaking, then no they are not. But if when it comes close to feeding time and you gush like a waterfall, then yes, I would suggest pads to prevent leakage.

  21. It depends on your milk supply. For my first baby, I had to wear them all the time, and bring some to change if I left the house.

For my son, I wore a few in the beginning, but never wear them anymore. My supply is low this time and I rarely leak. If I do, my bra usually soaks it up and it doesn't even show through my shirt.

If you do need them, I recommend getting a high quality pad. Some of the cheaper ones are very obvious through your shirt, no matter how padded your bra is.

  22. I leaked really badly through the whole 2.5 years so I would say definitely yes! I believe most people don't leak for more than the first couple of months or so though so hopefully you wouldn't need them for long. With the breast pads and the pump and storage bags (as I was back at work after 6 months) breastfeeding cost me a fortune, so much for it being cheaper than bottle-feeding!

  23. Absolutely yes! Unless of course you want to leak all over the place which is totally embarrassing! Go out and get yourself some Lansinoh they are in a purple box and they work really good especially at night when your b***s leak the most.

  24. Yea, unless you want to leak through your shirt and bra. Believe everyone on here when they say- embarrassing! Try the washable ones, they are a little cheaper and I found that they were less irriatating.

  25. Yes. Very embarrassing when your out, and you have wet top in 2 certain areas. Its a definite must for nursing and non nursing mummy's
